Final Series Proposal

Tentative Series Name:

Imaginary Friends

State Idea:

I would like to mix photography and digital media to portray the mundane with creativity.

How will you execute idea?

I will take photos of everyday people or places as the base of the photo, but leave enough room for my illustration(s) to be added later. I will then use Photoshop or another digital program to draw on top of the photo by adding silly creatures interacting with the scene.

Why is this topic important to you? What do you want other people to understand? What do you hope this series will accomplish?

I find myself more as an illustrator than a photographer, I wanted to showcase my skills better, however I know that I cannot overshadow the photos I take for this series with my illustrations. What my goal is to is show that we as artists can mix different media to create a better image. I also hope that this would inspire others to see the creativity in the world, even though it can feel “ordinary.”

Any special conditions, equipment, or techniques needed?

I may use my tripod or reflectors for certain shots. The main technique is using a program like Photoshop and creating new layers onto the original photo to create an “Imaginary Friend.”

Output Method and Size:

I am most likely going to print on a 8×10.

Portrait Research

For my self portrait, I plan to take a photo of my self zoomed in on my back. It will focus specifically on my hands, which are placed on my neck and head.

The environmental photo will take place in a library with the subject looking back at the camera in an aisle of books. The subject would be wearing a backpack and holding a book. \

The simple photo will have the subject sitting behind a solid color, ideally a primary color, while they are wearing other primary colors for contrast.

For the creative photo, it will also be a self portrait in a sense, but with shadows. The background have colorful lights so that the colors will contrast with the shadows.
