Tentative Series Name:
For this series, I want to focus on female empowerment and diversity among it.
How will you execute idea?
I am going to be taking photographs of several women in all different sizes, races, and ages and ask them all the same question; “What does being a woman mean to you?”.
Why is this topic important to you? What do you want other people to understand? What do you hope this series will accomplish?
Even though I don’t identify as female myself, I do like to embrace my femininity. I also believe that every woman has a different background story and should be proud of how far they’ve come in life. I hope to receive different answers from my female models to show everyone’s opinion on being female.
Any special conditions, equipment, or techniques needed?
All the portraits will be in black and white and formatted so that the question will be on top and their answer will be listed below them.
Output Method and Size:
I want it printed like a magazine so it will be 8 and a half by 11. I will also printed on glossy paper and have the text be minimal so the main focus could be on the pictures.
I do have a few ideas in mind when it comes to this project. I want to incorporate my makeup artistry into these portraits as well. One idea I have for self portrait is to symbolize domestic abuse towards females in relationships by having myself paint fake bruises all over my body and I pose in front of a camera wearing minimal clothing while displaying mud bruises. For environmental I want to shoot a friend of mine in a planned parenthood in a hospital gown to symbolize reproductive healthcare for women. For formal, I want to get a male friend of mine photographed with half his face being covered in makeup while the other half is bare faced, symbolizing masculinity and femininity. As for the creative portrait, Im still unsure on what I want.
