Tentative Series Name:
Greetings from Cal Poly Pomona
Create post cards that display Cal Poly Pomona.
How will you execute the idea?
Through landscape photography of key buildings at Cal Poly Pomona.
Done using wide-angle shots, taken during early or late day, from a lower perspective.
Why is this topic important to you? What do you want other people to understand? What do you hope this series will accomplish?
Through working on-campus since my first year working closely with important campus events, faculty, staff, and with students, I have come to appreciate everyday life on campus after having a wholistic view of university events and the behind the scenes of operations of the university. Originally, as someone not from this area was oblivious to the importance and prowess of universities.
I want to create a series of postcards that are intended as items targeted for an audience outside of Cal Poly and hope this series will translate the beauty of Cal Poly Pomona through the buildings and environments that house innovation and keystones in several thousands of lives.
Additionally, the use of landscape photography was chosen because of wanting more experience with this photo genre and the utilizing the medium of postcards to develop skills for printmaking to create an everyday object that is not available on campus.
Any special conditions, equipment, or techniques needed?
Sunlit environments, tripod, wide angle lens, camera with timer, HDR stacking.
Output Method and Size:
4”x6” Postcards processed in Lightroom with illustrations done in Photoshop and Lightroom.
