Series Proposal

First off I completely forgot I never submitted this artist proposal so better now than never? I don’t know but here it is anyways.

Tentative Series Name: Abandonment

State Idea:

For the series I want to focus on photographing places that have been left abandoned and either focus on people and places.

How will you execute idea?

I plan to use natural light and photograph environments primarily in landscape shots.

Why is this topic important to you? What do you want other people to understand? What do you

hope this series will accomplish?

I wanted to focus on this issue because I regularly see places that were once thriving businesses or homes with families that are now decaying and falling apart. It isn’t some issue I hold close to my heart but I find it interesting to see how time changes many things and places you once visited while you were a child or regularly passed by are now vacant.

Any special conditions, equipment, or techniques needed?

No, all my shots will be taken with natural sunlight or during evening with a tripod if I feel its fits better.

Output Method and Size:

I will be using 11×17 I don’t find it absolutely necessary to have giant prints but just enough to see what is happening or what is being shown.

My sketches are pretty straight forward and they show business or homes that have either been abandoned or have burnt down and the only thing left in its place is an empty piece of land with remnants of once used to be there. I wasn’t aiming for them to be some deep philosophical series of me trying to add meaning that isn’t there. I just thought it would be an interesting idea to capture these locations and how insignificant over time they’ve become. I had an idea when I would regularly pass by them and over the years they still remain falling apart, forgotten kind of a parallel to when someone dies and after a certain period its like you never even existed. Anyways I don’t aim for people to read it that way, again as I said its pretty straight forward people can read whatever they want into it.
